Six years ago, on a very sunny Tucson day in April, while I was supposed to be discussing a chapter out of Lynn Spigel's book, I was daydreaming about being outside. My classmate and BFF, Kathleen also dreamed of being outside--which is why she wore a cotton skirt with a very large chicken glued on it. Bored and feeling extra ornery, I mocked Kathleen's skirt and told her I owned more skirts than she did. CHALLENGE!
And Skirtathon began. Six years later, it's still going strong. 21 days of non-stop, never the same skirt wearing. 21 days of glory by way of wearing a garment that has a hole at the bottom. 21 days of doing something just for the sake of doing it and knowing that there's a community of women playing along side.
Do you wanna play? Sign up. Print out the pledge. And, may the skirt be with you!
